Result: Our work helped managers to:

Situation: TSO Consulting was asked to support the top team of the organisation through a period of organisational transition.

Task: TSOC provided individual and group coaching sessions for key personnel, using tailored feedback and psychometrics, and became trusted advisors to the senior management team. This support during organisational transition helped them cope with extreme stress as new structures and behaviours were introduced.

Action: Working individually with senior operations managers, coaches found that huge emphasis on task achievement produced little insight into staff issues. We sought performance information from peers and bosses via personal interview, for discussion with our clients.

Conversations were, inevitably, sensitive - requiring us to maintain the validity of the viewpoint, manage the political influences that crept in, and enable clients to find points to celebrate as well as issues on which they needed to work.

Coaches encouraged managers to consider the signals they were giving on what they perceived to be performance issues; then they jointly worked on new approaches, encouraging greater staff ownership of performance and improved relationships between managers and teams.
