HM Prison Service Case Study
- Client:
- HM Prison Service (HMPS)
- Project:
- Workshops for HoLs programme
‘Thank you once again to you and the team for all your hard work on the HoLS project. It was a long and sometimes arduous journey, but your determination to get it right, positive attitudes and high standards of professionalism meant that the final product was of extremely high quality and, more importantly, hit the mark! It's unusual for us to be in the fortunate position of being able to commission a project management team for our work, and we're extremely glad that we chose you to carry out the task for us. Please pass on our warm thanks to the team, all of whom gave 110% to the project.’
Result: The events were well received, with an good response to completing feedback data. The opportunity to bring HoLS and Governors together was welcomed and the precise tarketing of workshops paid off. Of particular interest were the Motivation and Organisational DNA workshops and all feedback praised the high level of organisation. TSOC continues with a framework agreement with HMPS.
Situation: TSOC designed, project managed and facilitated two ‘Symposium’ (conference-style) events for HM Prison Service Heads of Learning and Skills (HoLS) in 2006-07; our main client was the Head of Leadership and Management Development and her team.
Task: These were complex events, incorporating key plenary speakers from within the Prison Service and external specialists; and a number of concurrent workshop ‘tracks’. At these events, each speaker was facilitated by a TSOC consultant, and we also delivered the facilitated workshop sessions.
The Symposia had audiences of between 80 and 100, comprising both HoLS and their Governors, and addressed the changing landscape of the HoLS’ role in reducing re-offending.
Action: Our role was to design, project manage, design the marketing approach and materials, brand the events, provide structured walk-throughs for the facilitation team and the client, write and produce content, facilitate and manage on the day, and conduct the post-event evaluation.
Feedback:
‘Excellent speakers and good varied subject areas to interest HOLS and Governors.’
‘I would have liked time to attend other workshops.’
‘The Organisational DNA’ workshop was excellent – I would have liked it to be longer.’
‘I would have welcomed a second day of the same type of sessions.’
