Court Service 'Unlocking Potential' Case Study
- Client:
- The Court Service
- Project:
- 'Unlocking Potential' management development
ROI is integral to TSOC programme design; participants who took part in ‘Unlocking Potential’ moved from being a ‘tough audience’ to a committed group of managers who better understand their role and its importance as the organisation implements a major modernisation programme.
Result: The programme has received excellent feedback, and participants are reported to have moved from being a 'tough audience' to a committed group of managers who better understand their role and its importance as the organisation implements a major modernisation programme. Delivery is ongoing, carried out by the organisation's own L&D team.
Situation: Towards the end of a leadership development programme designed by TSOC and delivered to The Court Service, we were asked to devise a new development activity for managers in the span 4-6 categories, as part of a culture-change initiative to support the introduction of new technology.
Task: The target population – 900 middle managers – had enjoyed few development opportunities and little investment, but would play a significant role in using the new technology.
A limited budget meant that in-house trainers would carry out most of the delivery, once the well-established programme was ready for handover.
Action: We designed a two-day workshop that addressed the impact of change, and the role that span 4-6 managers would play in that change. We also provided mechanisms for managers to seek feedback from their colleagues - a wholly new activity at this level
The workshop was piloted and evaluated with three demanding representative groups and once the pilot phase was complete, we worked with the in-house team to develop their delivery skills; three workshops were then co-delivered with internal trainers to effect a successful handover to the internal L&D team
Delegate feedback was then collected after each workshop, and used as a means of ensuring relevance, efficacy, and continuous improvement.
