- Team Exploration workshop
"This was one of the most useful training events I have been on. I would recommend it to others within my organisation"
Result: This team development workshop was highly effective because the group found new ways of working together; for example, understanding why they approach change in different ways. Because we created a safe environment for honest and open discussion, important underlying issues were identified and discussed freely and constructively; these included how feedback to management is one way of making the working of the department more effective. This kind of constructive discussion helped establish the foundation for a more honest and frank team-working scenario.
Situation: A team wanted to improve the way it worked together when dealing with the major incidents that were part and parcel of its everyday role. This type of meant that there were big peaks and troughs in volume of workload - this could not be changed but the team wanted to see if they could handle the work better.
Task: We were briefed to make the team more aware of their own working style and that of others, to reflect on ways they could work differently and manage the unpredictable workload better.
Action: We interviewed team members, managers and key support staff to get an understanding of the work of the team. Each of the team members completed an MBTI personality type tool. The team then attended a one-day workshop to look at their individual preferences of working, the way their colleagues like to work, and how that understanding could be used to make the department work together more effectively.
Feedback: "A very useful training day. A lot of discussion between the team about sensitive subjects in a constructive manner."
"Roll it out to every other team within the organisation!"
