win hearts and minds
A government agency in Wales needed to get important messages across at a management conference. It needed its top teams to sign up to a new strategy – and engage with a Confident Communication programme.
The programme was designed to help 750 people across the organisation become vibrant and confident advocates for the work the agency does.
Key moments
The speakers realised only 7% of a presentation is remembered for content; their new influencing and communication skills were critical.
Critical results
Hearts and minds were won because leaders saw the tangible benefit of the communications programme.
It was crucial to Jo Dale (above) that conference presentations about the programme were professional, persuasive and memorable. Speakers needed to role model the benefits of the work before it even began. Expert performance techniques were needed to provide speakers with confident communications and influencing skills.
With TSOC partners Central School for Speech and Drama, practical coaching focussed on the
importance of demeanour and delivery styles in communication; body language skills and tone of voice techniques endorsed the perception of credibility around each speaker’s expertise, trustworthiness and dynamism.
